Navigate the AI landscape with confidence and purpose
I'm always searching for ways to solve problems. For many nonprofit managers, problem-solving often takes a backseat to meeting deadlines or dealing with crises. It's not ideal, but it's common. It's easy to get caught up in meeting immediate deadlines and resolving crises, which leaves little time for strategic problem-solving.
Working with Generative AI can effectively clear up some time so you can be more productive. Many nonprofit managers have thought about using AI to streamline repetitive tasksâbut where do you get started?
Learn how to make AI work for you.
AI breakthroughs happen every day. But where do you learn to actually apply the tech to your work? Join The Rundown â the worldâs largest AI newsletter read by over 600,000 early adopters staying ahead of the curve.

You learn how to become 2x more productive by leveraging AI
The 1st biggest day in AI was on 11/30/2022 (ChatGPTâs debut). The 2nd was on 3/14/2023 (ChatGPT-4âs release). The day before Yesterday was the 3rd, marking the launch of ChatGPT-4o.
My small team and I have been looking into how AI can help nonprofits in four main areas: Programs, Finance and Operations, Development, and Marketing.
đ Real-World Examples of AI in Action for Nonprofits
Over the past ten days, we've been putting AI tools to the test, tackling a wide array of nonprofit management tasks:
đ Analyzed 3,000 lines of donor data to identify the top 30 prospects for targeted outreach.
đ Examined 265 charitable donations from a family foundation, uncovering giving patterns and crafting personalized messages to align with a specific nonprofit's goals.
𧊠Utilized a custom GPT model to dissect an RFP, highlighting alignment between an applicant's programmatic focus and the funder's priorities.
âď¸ Guided a client in developing a GPT-based writing and social media editor for their foundation, streamlining content creation and engagement.
âď¸ Streamlined client tracking and billing processes with AI-driven insights.
Additionally, we've been using AI to tackle repetitive tasks like newsletter editing, campaign planning, drafting outreach messages and surveys, and summarizing reports to focus on the most relevant insights for our nonprofit clients.

Some of these activities felt like a breeze when we started working with tools like ChatGPT-4, Claude, Bard (now Gemini), and Microsoft CoPilot. Others seemed impossible just a year ago, like using OpenAI's Code Interpreter to build custom AI models. Through practice, learning, and iteration, we've expanded our capacity to leverage Generative AI for increasingly complex nonprofit management functions.
đ¤ Let's Connect and Collaborate
What are you doing to build Generative AI skills to support your work and organization? Have you started using Generative AI, subscribed to a higher-level platform, and tried creating some custom GPTs? If youâre in a nonprofit organization doing this work, Iâd love to hear what you are up to.
If youâre considering the possibilities but are unsure howâor whenâto get started, I invite you to reach out or reply so we can discuss ways to focus your explorations with AI on skills that will help your foundation or nonprofit.
With gratitude,
Kajal
